Résumé : Au bilan ophtalmologique et orthoptique classique doit être associée
chez les mal voyants une évaluation des possibilités visuelles dans des conditions les
plus proches de la vie quotidienne du sujet.
Une bonne utilisation des possibilités visuelles avec ou sans aide optique, spontanément
ou grâce à une rééducation spécifique est indispensable pour limiter l'handicap
visuel.
L'objectif de cette rééducation pratiquée par l'orthoptiste est de prévenir ou limiter
certains déficits perceptifs visuels.

Summary : After a conventional exam, ophthalmologist and orthoptist also must
proceed differently with partially sighted persons : a precise evaluation of the client's
remaining visual capacity with standart materials is important.
A good use of visual possibilities, with optical aid or not, spontaneously or thanks to
specific reeducation is absolutely necessary to limit visual handicap. So, orthoptist have
to work with some visually impaired persons (baby, child, adult) their visual skills
(discrimination, scanning, tracking, memory eye, hand coordination...) to prevent or limit
visual perceptive deficits.
