Résumé : Cette étude démontre pour la première fois que la DVD survient en
majorité avant un an; la plupart du temps, avant 18 mois; jamais avant 6 mois.
L'immaturité du développement des hémirétines temporale et nasale, puis inférieure et
supérieure, illustre parfaitement le comportement clinique de même que la succession des
déviations horizontales (DHD) puis verticales (DVD) dans le strabisme précoce.
La DVD est responsable de la quasi totalité des phénomènes verticaux du syndrome de
Lang.
La DVD est accusée à tord "d'entraver" les liens binoculaires alors qu'elle
n'est que l'illustration pathognomonique du strabisme précoce congénitalement pauvre en
stéréoscopie.

Summary : This study demonstrates for the first time that dissociated vertical
deviation (DVD) appears in a majority of cases before age 1; almost always before 18
months and never before 6 months.
The immature development of the retina in the temporal and nasal zones and later in the
superior and inferior regions is a perfect illustration of the clinical progression and of
the succession of horizontal to vertical deviations in precocious strabism.
DVD is responsible for almost all the vertical phenomena seen in the Lang syndrome. DVD is
incorrectly accused of "impeding" binocular co-ordination when it is in fact the
clinical sign of a precocious strabism with congenitally limited stereoscopy.
