Summary : The authors point out the relation between the objective deviation of the visual axes (strabrismic or paralytic deviation) and the non concomitant deviation (dyssynergy) which may be found to the electrooculographic examination.
An attempt to quantify the non concomitant deviation seems to confirm their theory (in spite of the lack of precision in measuring the tracing range and the difficulty to assess the objective deviation during the ocular examination).
The recorded ocular movement depends on 3 factors : the direction and the range of the ocular deviation, the mechanical thrust phenomenon and the paretic phenomenon.

Key Words : Electrooculographic examination, Non concomitant hypodeviation, non concomitant hyperdeviation, Esotropia (non concomitant hypodeviation), Exotropia (non concomitant hyperdeviation), Oculomotor palsies, Paretic eye, Unaffected eye, Mechanical thrust phenomenon
